THE FRAGRANCE WE ARE COMPOSING

A walk, unfolding in three impressions.

Opening · Top notes

Leaves after rain

A crisp green freshness, with the cool, damp impression of a leaf brushed aside on a village path.

Heart · Middle notes

White chafa on the breeze

A soft, rounded white-floral heart. Chafa leads the memory, moving gently through the green freshness.

Final impression · Base notes

The quiet by the temple

A quiet temple-incense impression over warm wood and a trace of damp earth. Gentle and close, like lingering in the temple shade.

These are the sensations guiding development. The finished scent and ingredient details will be shared before orders open.

Scent notes & ingredients

These notes describe the impressions we are composing, not a list of raw ingredients. The final oils, carrier and ingredient details will be confirmed before payment.

Imagine its character

Green at first, softly floral at the heart, then gently woody with an incense-like warmth. White chafa remains the centre of this fragrance direction.

THE STORY BEHIND THE FRAGRANCE

Take the path, slowly.

White chafa flowers above a grandmother and child walking towards a village temple in Konkan; a monochrome story illustration.

The village is waking slowly.

Sunlight has reached the tiled roofs. The courtyard has been swept. Someone is setting down cups of tea on the veranda. Almost without thinking, you say, “I’ll walk up to the temple.”

“Take your time,” a voice calls from inside.

Today, you intend to.

Continue the walk

Beyond the garden gate, a red-earth path begins. Trees lean close on either side. You ease a branch out of the way, and drops from its leaves fall onto your hand. A fresh green scent lingers near your fingers. Without noticing, you take a deeper breath.

Light and shade lie in patches along the path. A little rain passed through in the night. The earth beside the fence is still damp. Fallen leaves, grass and soil mingle in the air. Even your footsteps seem quieter here.

As you walk, a familiar bend comes into view.

And suddenly, you stop.

A fragrance has arrived on the breeze.

You know it.

For a moment, the name will not come. Then you breathe in again, and find yourself smiling.

Chafa.

The old tree beyond the fence is flowering. Its blooms are tucked among the leaves. When the wind stills, the fragrance recedes. When it returns, the flowers seem close again. You stand beneath the tree, waiting for the next breeze.

You used to stop here as a child, too.

Your grandmother would already be further down the path. She would turn and call, “Are you planning to stay there all morning?”

She carried a little basket of flowers. When you ran to catch up, she would place one in your palm.

You walked the rest of the way with it held beneath your nose. Sometimes you brushed its petals against your cheek. Sometimes you closed your hand around it, then opened it again, just to check that the scent was still there.

The temple bell brings you back to the path.

You leave your sandals at the steps. Cool stone meets your feet. From the dim interior, a gentle warmth of fragrance reaches the doorway. You sit on the low platform outside, where a passing breath of chafa mingles with it.

Above you, the leaves stir.

For a while, you simply stay.

As you leave, an elderly woman near the temple asks, “Would you like a flower to take home?”

You hold out your hand.

Back home, you place the chafa in a small bowl on the veranda. Someone calls from inside, “Where did you stop for so long?”

“At that bend… the chafa is in flower.”

As you speak, you lift your palm to your face.

The scent is still there.

And, for a moment, so is the first flower your grandmother placed in your hand.

“The scent is still there. And, for a moment, so is the first flower your grandmother placed in your hand.”
